Anyone out there watch South Park?
One of the things I’ve been doing lately in order to avoid doing any real work (or blogging, for that matter) is visiting local schools and talking about how I “became” a writer. The idea, of course, is to help educate any aspiring authors out there, as well as offer up examples of success principles that might be applied to any pursuit in life.
Now, anyone who has met me probably knows that I have a penchant for self-mockery. (It’s one of the few things that comes easily to me.) So, even though these talks seem to be going over well, I can’t resist sharing the words that go through my own head while I’m up there pontificating about how to achieve your aims in life. Specifically, it’s Eric Cartman standing on stage, thinking he’s some kind of bodybuilder for having gained, like, 400 pounds on high-calorie protein shakes:
“You can reach your goals. I’m living proof. Beefcake. Beefcake!“
